What is Resistance Stretching?

Resistance Stretching is a comprehensive and innovative approach to flexibility training. It is based on the principal that muscles stretch maximally when they contract while simultaneously being lengthened. By contracting the muscle as it is lengthened, tension and torque is taken out of the muscles and joints. The results are improved flexibility and strength. Moving the body through multiple planes of movement with resistance allows for both concentric and eccentric training. Optimizing the length-tension relationship of muscles creates positive changes in structural alignment, muscular performance and bone rotation. Resistance Stretching combines strength training and flexibility training to create optimum balance and efficiency in the body. It is an innovative approach to well-being that creates positive, lasting change.

Private Assisted Stretching Sessions

Individualized to address your unique body’s needs and goals.

Assisted stretching provides the most comprehensive flexibility training, addressing muscle imbalances, range of motion and strength through rotational eccentric and concentric movements.

In a session you will be working, using your own body’s resistance, contracting muscles as we manually lengthen them in various kinematic muscle patterns specific to you. The flexibility training involves an individualized approach to assess and evaluate your unique body. During the session your body is worked through all planes of movement, optimizing alignment, strength and range of motion. The session provides a total body workout of strength, flexibility and core stabilization.

Workshops:

Workshops provide an intimate atmoshphere to better understand and experience the benefits of Resistance Stretching.

Workshops are 2-3 hours in length and include self stretches, assisted stretches and mashing. We also go over any necessary modification to stretches as needed. Workshops can be designed to address specific populations.
